Just got back from the dentist
I haven’t been in about a decade, but no cavities. This calls for some butterscotch chicken to celebrate.
It was such a lovely day, I thought it a pity to get up.

I think that this may be why Hamlet has always been my favorite Shakespeare play. Thinking back, I first read it right around the time my grandmother died. I’ve never thought about exactly why the character resonated with me so much, but O’Rourke’s take makes lots of sense to me.

“Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible for him. She tells him he can’t take the baby to our house because she doesn’t want him around ‘white trash.’ She treats him so badly!”
Can I just say that Ol’ Levi here dodged a pretty significant bullet here? If McCain & Palin had won he’d be marching down the aisle...
ProTip: if you write a phrase in your dissertation that makes you think of the Simpson’s line “It’s a widely believed fact” then you probably ought to go back and revise it. Whoever you are.

I tend to agree that Snyder was over-attached to the source material and it might’ve been nice to see what a little re-imagining could’ve...

Education is overrated by the educated. Don’t do it.
You see this kind of article any time the job market gets soft, and there’s definitely some merit to the argument. If you don’t know what you want to do, going to graduate school not only isn’t going to fix that, it may well exacerbate it. That said, the tone of the article (and the blog post that...

I don’t know that he was ever attacked while wearing the suit, though. (via jamiek)

On a positive note, Detroit’s homicide rate dropped 14 percent last year. That prompted mayoral candidate Stanley Christmas to tell the Detroit News recently, “I don’t mean to be sarcastic, but there just isn’t anyone left to kill.”
