I finally went with Lindsay to her Saturday morning yoga place. She has been telling me it will change my life for about 6 months now, so I finally threw on some obscene gray leggings and obliged.

Now, this is yoga in Williamsburg. Suffice it to say there was no gold lame left to be desired.

No, really: gold lame and an ass with the stuff of which wet dreams are made.

We were all mat to mat, ok, it was a very Sapphic experience.

Anyway the teacher, her name is Heather I believe, aka Lindsay’s hero, aka also an ass of which wet dreams are made, gave us a little chat at the beginning, which only mildly embarassed me, as most speeches delivered to me by somebody in yoga pants do— but also, like most well-meaning dharma talks preaching about love, it won me over in the end. Because, why not?

And that was her THEME if you will, the old tie-in, repeat: Everything is rooting for your happiness. She said it very earnestly and enough times that we started to believe it.

It is a nice idea and Lindsay and I spent the better of our day pointing out all of the things that were rooting for our happiness- our sandwiches from the deli, the dog rolling around in the park, the man who tattooed a Yankees sweatband on his forearm…

But, oh, by the way: the catch is, you have to root for everyone’s happiness, too.

It is one hell of a catch, guys, I know. This is coming from someone who just spent 20 minutes watching Dooce’s MOMVERSATION VLOG (which is, for starters, very flagrant use of the portmanteau) about comparing your second pregnancy to your first.

I learned a lot today.
