A little taste of the IT climate in my new workplace
This is the reasoning behind not approving the Kindle DX as a piece of equipment authorized for purchase:
7/16/09 - Not Approved. Amazon Kindle is a removable mass storage device that provides none of the security protocols necessary to protect sensitive information. There is no password or other unauthorized use protection. Additionally, there is no protection of the wireless communications used by the device. An alternate solution is to read PDF files on approved Blackberry devices.
Now, I want to stress that I think that these are all legitimate reasons to not approve this device. But on what planet is an “alternative solution” to read PDF files on the 320X240 screen of a Blackberry?
